HOW TO MAKE A ROCKET SHIP OUT OF A BOX

As the saying goes … waste not, want not. In those final weeks and days of the summer holidays, where you’re running out of activities and feeling thin on entertainment (trust us, we’re with you), just remember that often, when you’re dealing with those mighty imaginations, fun can be found in the simplest of things. And going back to basics with some cardboard and tape can pass away many a happy hour.
For our final Adventure Activity, inspired by our much-loved Rocket Ship print from our Back-To-School collection, we're making rocket ships out of our very own recyclable packaging. Because when life gives you an empty box, it's what you can make of it that matters.
So, grab your craft supplies and follow our step-by-step guide on how to make a rocket out of a box.

YOU WILL NEED
An old cardboard box
Scissors
Tape
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Optional: coloured paper

A Handy How-to: How To Make A Rocket Ship Out Of A Box

STEP ONE
Cut out a rectangle of cardboard from your box, we went for 23cm x 28cm but you can make it any size you’d like.

STEP TWO
Depending how thick your cardboard is you may need to mold it into the tube shape, sticking it down with tape along the long edge.

STEP THREE
From the remaining cardboard cut out a circle, ours is 20cm in diameter.

STEP FOUR
Cut into the middle of the circle and mold into a cone shape.
Attach this to your rocket with tape

STEP FIVE
Using excess cardboard, trim a wing shape.
Then cut a slit from the top down. Hold the wing against the rocket and mark where the slit ends, cut upwards from here and then attach the wing

STEP SIX
Once both wings are attached it’s time to paint on some windows for the astronauts to look out of!

STEP SEVEN
To add some extra whoosh to your rocket, cut up some tissue paper (or parcel packaging as we have used) and attach inside the bottom ready for take off.
